This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:
Honda CR-V (LX, EX, SE): 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001
Chassis Compatibility: RD1 (AWD) and RD2 (FWD) chassis.
To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your CR-Vs emissions compliance, professional Honda technicians recommend the following “External Swap” steps:
Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifold. JDM versions may lack specific vacuum bungs, EVAP sensors, or oxygen sensor locations required for North American OBDII systems.
Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are built for right-hand drive and will not interface with your CR-Vs chassis bulkheads or ECU.
Distributor & Alternator: Transfer your original USDM Distributor, Alternator, and Sensors. JDM electrical plugs often differ; using your original “known-good” electronics ensures a seamless “plug-and-play” experience.
Water Housing: Swap your original USDM Water Outlet to ensure all radiator and heater hoses align perfectly with your North American cooling system.
