This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American 9th Generation models:
Honda Accord (Sedan/Coupe): 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017
Trims: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L (2.4L Models)
Transmission Compatibility: CVT and 6-Speed Manual.
Compatibility Note: This engine is for Direct Injection models only. It is not compatible with the 20082012 K24Z series or the 3.5L V6 variants.
To ensure 100% compatibility and a seamless “Plug-and-Play” installation into your USDM Accord, professional installers recommend the following “External Swap” steps:
High-Pressure Fuel System: You must transfer your original USDM High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) and fuel rail to the JDM block. This ensures the JDM engine communicates perfectly with your North American ECU.
Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: Transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifold. JDM versions may have different vacuum port locations or sensor bungs.
Engine Sensors: Swap your original USDM Camshaft Sensors, Crankshaft Sensor, and Knock Sensor to the JDM block.
Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not reach your battery or ECU locations.
Water Housing: Inspect the thermostat housing and water outlet. If the sensor plugs or hose angles differ, swap your USDM components to the JDM block.
VTC Actuator: While the engine is out, we recommend inspecting the VTC Actuator. If your old engine had a “grinding” noise on startup, ensure you are using a revised Honda part (R5A-A01) for long-term reliability.
