This engine is a direct long-block replacement for the following North American models:
Honda Element (2WD / 4WD): 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 (K24A4 Replacement)
Honda Element (2WD / 4WD): 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 (K24A8 Replacement)
Compatibility Note: While the JDM K24A long block is nearly identical, you must transfer your original USDM external components to maintain 100% plug-and-play compatibility with your Element’s specific year and emissions equipment.
To ensure 100% compatibility and maintain your Elements emissions status, professional Honda technicians recommend the following “External Swap” steps:
Intake & Exhaust Manifolds: You must transfer your original USDM Intake Manifold and Exhaust Manifold. JDM versions often have different vacuum port configurations and lack specific emissions sensors required for North American OBDII compliance.
Wiring Harness: Always retain and use your original USDM Engine Wiring Harness. JDM harnesses are configured for right-hand drive and will not interface with your Elements chassis or ECU.
Engine Sensors: Transfer your original USDM Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensors. Honda electronics are sensitive; using your original “known-good” sensors prevents intermittent signal issues or Check Engine Light codes.
VTEC Solenoid: Retain and use your original USDM VTEC Solenoid to ensure the plug matches your factory harness perfectly.
Water Housing & Sensors: Transfer your original USDM water housing to ensure the coolant temp sensors and hose locations match your factory cooling system.
Crank Pulley & Accessories: Use your original Element alternator, A/C compressor, and power steering pump to ensure perfect belt alignment and clearance.
